Program Offerings for New Fencers
-
Introductory Foil Program
The Introductory Program is for children who have very little to no previous fencing experience. The program will instill the basics of foil fencing and will introduce proper fencing positions and techniques. The goal of this class is to empower the fencer to be independent and confident enough to demonstrate basic fencing proficiency before advancing levels to the Pre-Competitive program.
There are three options available:
1) 8 Group Classes per Month
2) 4 Group Classes and 4 Private Lessons
3) 8 Private Lessons
Fencers will be provided rental equipment free of charge throughout the duration of the Introductory Program. We request that fencers wear non-marking indoor sneakers during class to preserve our fencing strips and floor.
Fencers are enrolled for a minimum of 4 weeks total (2 days per week) and must complete the Introductory Program before advancing to the Pre-Competitive Program (pending coach's evaluation). A club membership is not required for participation in the Introductory Program.

Pre-Competitive Foil Program
The Pre-Competitive Program is the next step after the Introductory Program and is designed for students with 2 years or less of fencing experience who have ambitions of participating in competitive fencing at the regional and national levels. In addition to expanding and further developing pre-existing fundamentals, fencers will be taught basic strategies and tactics. The goal is to introduce more technical training and combine that with deeper strategic thinking on the fencing strip.
The program is broken out into two tiers based on age:
Pre-Competitive Youth - elementary school aged fencers
Pre-Competitive Teen - middle and high school aged fencers
Each tier runs 4 days per week and includes unlimited Pre-Competitive Group Classes and 8 Pre-Competitive Private Lessons per month. Students must take 2 Pre-Competitive Private Lessons per week (included in the package price).
A club membership is required to participate in the Pre-Competitive Program.
Pre-Competitive fencers will be asked to purchase their own equipment after promotion and will have two weeks to do so before a rental equipment fee will be assessed.
Promotion to the Competitive Program is at the coach's discretion.
